Married Couples Ministry, Kampala, Uganda, East Africa
In 2007 the Lord called us to work full-time with married couples. Broken homes in Africa have produced very many helpless children who are not well-nurtured or provided for, setting into motion a cosmic catalogue of problems.
Because our own marriage continues to benefit from the premarital counseling we received in 2002, and because we see training and counseling as a big necessity among couples in Uganda, we are convinced that loving marriages display the Glory of God and that God-fearing couples can work hard together to provide for their children, teaching and raising them up to the glory of God.
Our mission is to disciple couples in order to create healthy and godly families that will impact the culture for generations to come. We desire to see couples discover and experience God’s grace through the gospel so as to transform relationships within marriage and family to God’s glory. We strongly believe that change will primarily come by exposing them to the gospel and the power therein. As we do this we hope that “Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.” (Isaiah 32:2 NIV)
We foresee ourselves walking alongside each couple for at least three years. At the end of this period each couple should be able to:
a) Identify, seek out and disciple at least two other couples.
b) Practically apply Biblical principles to any issue in their marriage.
c) Raise up their children in the knowledge and fear of God.
In our desire to influence them, we seek them out intentionally and walk alongside them so as to strategically:
Engage, Evangelize, Establish, Equip and invite them to consider finding other couples to walk alongside, with the aim of passing on what they have learned. (2 Timothy 2:2).
